Middle Chine Manor in Dorset is a huge house that pulls people together. From the sweeping drive to the garden pavilion, Middle Chine Manor offers no ordinary experience. Set in a private oasis, it's packed with period charm and modern goodies. This is the world of stone windows, parquet floors and squishy sofas. Enjoy a great film in the home cinema, savour a banquet breakfast in the big kitchen and serve up a spread for 30 in the dining room.
Outside, the garden is huge, the trees are big and mature and the cliff tops take you to your own private beach hut. With Middle Chine's sandy beach just eight minutes stroll away, splash in the surf and lap up the views to the Isle of Wight and Studland.
The house sleeps 20-30 guests in 12 lovely bedrooms. Perfect for surfing, sunbathing or sauntering along the promenade to Bournemouth pier and attractions in no time at all.
Reception Rooms
Step into Middle Chine Manor's huge wood- panelled hall, with parquet floors and a grand wooden staircase taking you to the first floor bedrooms. The large lounge, with big stone windows overlooking the garden, squishy sofas and an open fire, with a giant stone fireplace is perfect for gathering together. Spill out from the snug with its original wood panelling, squishy sofas into the garden. Parquet floors run through both lounges.
Perfect for the big meal, the dining room is a large, impressive room, with a big stone bay window overlooking the garden, and a huge oak table with space for up to 30 to dine together. With a parquet floor, chandelier and stone fireplace the dining room makes the perfect setting for a family celebration - or a relaxing dinner after a day on the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped for big groups with two cookers, two dishwashers, two fridges and a big sink. There is a banquet breakfast area with wooden tables - a great place to start the day, cook and chat, or serve up the children's tea.
At the top of the house on the second floor is the massive home cinema room. A big, open space under the eaves, with white walls and exposed beams, this runs across the full width of the house - 9m by 6m. And there is a second kitchen/bar area with American fridge freezer and tons of soft sofas where everyone can chill out and enjoy a good movie.
The games room - a big open space with table tennis table, pool and table football is perfect for the kids (and grown ups!) to let off steam.
Bedrooms - all the details
All the bedrooms have big, comfortable beds and high quality linen and many have room for a guest bed or cot for children. The grand wooden staircase leads to the first floor landing with 5 bedrooms. The master bedroom is a huge room, with high ceilings and great views over the garden. There is a stylish ensuite and a large dressing area with a single bed and plenty of room for a cot if needed. Bedroom 2 is another large room with lovely views over the garden, with a king-size bed. Bedroom 3 is a big room with an ensuite bathroom, with a double bed and a single, again overlooking the garden. Bedroom 4 is a double, with an ensuite. These are all big, light, airy rooms, with high ceilings and period details. Also off the main landing is Bedroom 5, a twin room, and the large, stylish, family bathroom complete with a shower and a huge whirlpool bath.
The back stairs near the kitchen lead to two more good sized bedrooms. Bedroom 6 is a family room, with a king-size bed and two singles (or four singles), plus an ensuite bathroom. Next to this is Bedroom 7, which can be set up as a king-size or twin room.
On the top floor, set under the eaves are four stylish, modern bedrooms. Bedroom 8 is a family room with a double bed and a single, with views over the garden and a stylish ensuite complete with roll top bath. Bedroom 9 and 10 are both double rooms, set under the eaves, and Bedroom 11 can be set up as a king-size or twin room. Bedrooms 9, 10 and 11 share a luxurious family bathroom.
Lastly, on the ground floor, Bedroom 12 is a lovely, large old fashioned room, with wood panelling throughout, a king-size bed plus a single, and state of the art shower room just opposite.
Outside
From the sweeping drive to the garden pavilion, Middle Chine offers no ordinary experience. The garden is huge, the trees are big and mature, the lawn's perfect for croquet and the cliff tops take you to your own private beach hut.
There is parking for 9 cars, with additional overspill parking available. The games room is just outside the front door, and the huge garden is accessed via the snug or kitchen. The garden is completely private, with a great lawn, just right for football, cricket, rounders or croquet. When it's time to relax there is a big pavilion, plenty of outdoor tables and benches, and a large barbeque. And any time you fancy a stroll to the sea, the cliff top is a short walk away, from where the pretty tropical gardens of Alum Chine lead down a winding path to the beach - and your private beach hut.
